To draw attention to climate change and melting ice caps, this motion-tracking experience was created for the Ice Detectives exhibit. The simple goal is to stay on the ice as it breaks apart and shrinks. As visitors walk around, polar bear footprints appear on the ice and turn to splashes on the water.

Mounted on rails over three encased ice core models, this display serves as a giant magnifying glass to be moved along the ice core. While always showing a highly detailed view of the ice, facts and quiz questions pop up on screen at certain points to share what scientists have learned from studying drilled ice cores.
